One of Canebrake’s practical advantages is that daily life can pull from both Old Hickory and Mount Juliet. The neighborhood has an Old Hickory mailing address, sits in Wilson County, and is close to the Lebanon Road corridor, Mount Juliet shopping, and public access to Old Hickory Lake.

This is not a directory assembled from review scores. I live in Canebrake, and these are places I actually like and recommend.

Nearby restaurants I return to

Mexican

Cinco de Mayo

An easy nearby choice for Mexican food and a familiar local standby. It belongs here because it is one of my personal favorites—not because it appears in a sales brochure.

Asian street food

BODHI Asian Street Eats

BODHI is at 14801 Lebanon Road in Old Hickory. It is a strong option for Thai and Asian street-food flavors and is close enough to feel like a neighborhood restaurant rather than a special trip.

Indian

Sanika’s Indian Cuisine

Sanika’s is at 12800 Lebanon Road in Mount Juliet. It is one of my preferred nearby choices for Indian food and a good example of why Canebrake’s access to the Lebanon Road corridor matters in everyday life.

Burgers + live music

Hillside Hangout

Hillside Hangout is at 12192 Lebanon Road in Mount Juliet. The menu centers on burgers, sandwiches, and casual food, with a laid-back neighborhood-bar atmosphere and live music programming.

Old Hickory Lake access

Canebrake is close to Old Hickory Lake, but “near the lake” is more useful when it points to an actual public access option.

Public recreation

Shutes Branch Recreation Area

Shutes Branch offers a boat launch, fishing platform, picnic sites, and access to the Shutes Branch trail system. The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency also lists it among the public fishing and boating access points around Old Hickory Reservoir.

Facility conditions and seasonal access can change, so check current notices before planning a lake day.

Shopping and errands in Mount Juliet

Mount Juliet provides the larger shopping and service base for Canebrake residents. Providence Marketplace and the surrounding area add big-box shopping, groceries, restaurants, and everyday services without requiring a trip into central Nashville.

The builder describes downtown Mount Juliet as approximately five minutes away and Providence Marketplace as approximately twelve minutes away. Those are marketing estimates rather than guaranteed drive times; actual travel varies by route and traffic.

Schools and neighborhood connections

Current published school assignments are Mount Juliet Elementary, Mount Juliet Middle, and Green Hill High School. School zones can change, so verify the assignment for a particular address directly with Wilson County Schools.

Canebrake also has an active residents-only Facebook group. The group is private, so prospective buyers should not expect access, and public marketing should not reuse private posts, resident names, or photos without permission.

The local-living takeaway

Canebrake is not in the center of downtown Old Hickory Village or Mount Juliet. Its appeal is the ability to reach both sides of the area: local restaurants along Lebanon Road, broader shopping in Mount Juliet, Wilson County schools, and public recreation on Old Hickory Lake.

For someone evaluating the neighborhood, I recommend testing those routes in real life. Visit at the time you would normally commute, drive to the grocery store and school area, and stop at one of the nearby restaurants. A map can show mileage; an ordinary Tuesday can show how the location actually feels.
